CB antenna length?

wanted to get GMRS but the group I'm traveling with the most uses CB. decided to get a Firestik and will mount it to my Hammberbuilt accessory mount next to the spare tire.

wondering if anyone had any guidance on what length i should get? comes in 2, 3, 4, 5'

From my old days of running CB's I would say you want it at least a foot above the top of your bronco. So from the base of the mount to the top of the Bronco then add a foot.

I went with the 3' option on a CB in my RV. Does OK. I think the firesticks are pretty much all 5/8 wave length antennas. I like the "tuneable" aspect of the firesticks. As to which firestick to get, get the one that mounts best where you want to place it. If you don't have a ground plane, consider the "no ground plane" LG series, although they are way more expensive than the Firestick II's.

Depends on where you mount it, but at least a foot over the roof is correct. Go wtih 4' if you can. Dont forget the SWR meter.

thanks everyone. i've ordered a firestik antenna. i'll mount to my hammerbuilt antenna mount in the rear and have it 2' above my roof (4').
