Not shocked (pun meant)

This is what 30k on a Ford tuned, modded and abused Bronco looks like. Went to a cooler plug (NGK)

She only used tier 1 premium fuel too.

I don’t see a problem. Black from carbon, yes, which is common for a turbo engine (especially tuned to keep combustion temps down for emissions of oxides). Tips are solid and gap is consistent.

I would agree - yeah they're dark but not bad. If you weren't having issues with misfires or lack of power, I wouldn't even have changed them.

And not sure why you would want to go cooler - that would lead to MORE carbon build-up from incomplete burns. If you want them to burn cleaner you either need higher combustion temps or a leaner mix...BUT turbo so you don't want to go far or you'll burn it up.

Cooler plugs are just to limit pre-day/knock in tuned Turbo engines, so they say. This is my first of that engine config so I run them and from stock to NGK cold to cold Ruthenium I noticed a gradual and significant difference, in idle and punch (but not expecting 30K out of them either).

While I understand that, and I have done my fair share of modding engines over the years, what you're showing us in that picture is a plug that is in fine shape after 30k miles and could go at least another 30k more.

With what you've shown us in that picture, you should either stick with the same plug, or go HOTTER, not colder - you're already getting an incomplete burn based on the amount of carbon built up on it, either by a late ignition or running too rich (either because you're not getting enough air or the tune is putting in too much fuel). This is an incomplete photo, but basically your plugs look like the first column, second row picture.

I have tuned carbuerated, TBI, TPI, MPFI, and DPI engines over the years, and I have NEVER wanted to go to a colder plug, with the SOLE exception of one particular snowmobile because I didn't want to melt the heads off it.
