I just changed mine today after reading this.
Almost 67k miles.
No codes, no big misfires.
Slight choppy idle, especially in cold weather (some seems to be inherent anyway it seems).
Surging slightly, barely perceptible, but there under load (passing, accelerating), more pronounced until operating temp.
Using cruise it seemed to have to work a slight bit harder and/or stay in boost more.
One of the easiest plug changes (2.7) I think I e encountered in a good while, especially on any vehicle newer than the turn of the century.
From walking up to it with the tools until closing the hood was about 30 minutes.
Not suggesting we go against manufacturer recommendations, not suggesting anyone throw money away, and definitely not suggesting plugs need changing with low mileage engines.
I’ll know tomorrow when I drive it if it made any discernible difference.
In my case with the 4 hr drive to SCE Friday and the cross-country trip in June I figured it was $80 well spent, especially if I gain any MPG back at all (not a huge determining factor, as it’s a heavy box with 37’s).
I’ve wasted larger sums on dumber efforts.
FWIW plugs looked similar to OP’s, a bit of carbon but nothing grand to note.
SP-594 seems to be the new number that supersedes the one noted earlier in the thread.
You can still get the old part #, just apparently not in stock anywhere near me and Amazon was over a week out on delivery. Identical to the ones I removed.
