This will happen at dusk (or I supposed dawn as well), as the vehicle sensors go above and below the threshold for automatic lights day/night mode. If it is happening in the middle of the day with no constant light, then I do not know what is going on.

It is a dumb feature. The dash light brightness should be tied to the headlights like most other vehicles instead of being separate. Not sure if there is a Forscan setting that can change it.

I am talking about the instrument panel just behind the steering wheel - it changes brightness multiple times while i am driving, even in full darkness. I should just take it to the dealer, but figured i would ask here first to see if it's a "feature" and supposed to do that

Yeah, the Bronco seems overly sensitive to light changes. With it being darker in the morning now, My screen and entertainment screen dim and flip between day/night multiple times on my 15 minute drive. It really should have an adjustment, but I can't find one.

If I recall correctly (I did it almost a year ago) I set everything to full dim. It doesn't change anymore, and I've never had a problem seeing it during the day.

The sensor is somewhere near the back of the rear view mirror on the drivers side.
I had a dash cam mounted up there and the auto dimming was constantly adjusting.
I removed the dash cam and it's all back to normal.

I stuck my ezpass behind the rear view mirror on the passenger side and haven't noticed any effect.

Turn off auto headlights and it shouldn't happen. I noticed, in the morning especially, that going in and out of shade it would brighten and dim. I just turned auto headlights off and it took care of the problem.
