The wife was talking to a co-worker of her's about the Bronco. The co-worker thought they were going to be able to go to a dealership in February and buy a Bronco not hearing about the reservation process.
My wife brought her back to reality.

We do not have one, hope we will not end up with any fallout, however as we process the WBDO orders that may become a reality that we have to face...

As for a list, I would not want to be responsible for the meting out the vehicles...

I had to deal with that as a Mazda salesperson in the late 80's early 90's...

What a mess that was...

Miata slides down through the ordered people ends up no one picked it
* Then we have a list of potentials that did not order one waiting for the chum
* 9 salespeople immediately calling everyone we knew that wanted one
* Have 3 show up at the same time to "look"/"buy" the Miata...
* not a pretty site and hard feelings all the way around...

Yes there was a list but blood in the water to a salesperson is just that, an opportunity to eat well...

I personally do not think reservation number will have anything to do with order or especially delivery time line. Lets just say the person with reservation #1 says “just a second while I get everything in order”. Do you think anyone is going to wait on this guy! No way No how is that happening. They have trucks to build and sell!
I suspect it will be close. Say a dealer calls 5 people to say "Let's build your truck!". They all start doing that but 1 is waaay more prepared and hands that paperwork in well before the others. That person would then have the best chance to get their truck before the other 4.

That is the opposite of what we are being told from Ford...

So I will stick with they are producing the Mannequins only for the dealerships along with the reservations...

My question is how would you feel knowing that there would be Broncos on the lot and still waiting for your reservation... that would be a total fail on Fords Part...

BTW we still cannot order stock Bronco Sports...

My .02 and worth both pennies...
HOWEVER - your pennies are worth FAR MORE than JC's Penny's... :p

The part of the reservation process that I think will catch the most people out is parts availability and the fact that when mentioned, it's quickly dismissed on these digital pages.

Even if your Bronco gets a VIN generated in the system, if your specific vehicle has an option or add-on which is not in-stock at the factory, your vehicle cannot be built. There must be 100% parts availability of a VIN in order to start production.

The $95 external keypad which is put on with double sided tape and ABSOLUTELY could have been dealer-installed held up our Ranger production for a few months. We watched hundreds of people on the Ranger forums with reservations after ours take delivery as our vehicle hadn't even started production. That was tons of fun! These vehicles must come off the line with 100% content that the customer ordered. Anything added after that is a parts nightmare for the dealership (who usually can't get these parts for MONTHS as spares haven't been made yet).

So in this Covid world we now have, and with global supply chains being impacted unpredictably, there will be delays for people and it will come down to what their specific build is and if they are the unlucky folks who wanted part 123XYZ that's back-ordered or in transit. Judging by the way this forum has gone so far with the Build & Price (which will be live on the 15th, according to a source), white roof discussions, pull-out rear tray, how flat the rear seats fold flat, etc, this place is going to be a mad-house of pissy piss-pants guys and girls who are all up at arms and ready to cancel orders for things welllllllllllll outside of Ford's hands. Ranger forum was starting to get nasty as people made allllllll sorts of creative interpretations of modern vehicle production processes and global supply chain networks all based around how Ford was singling them out or the dealer had done something to specifically impact them and their new truck.....

**Edit: I forgot to add the delays for after your vehicle is fully built and the status sits at "waiting to load" (or whatever Ford specifically called it) for however long it takes (our Ranger sat fully built and waiting for shipment for over 2 weeks). Your vehicle won't be delivered cross-country as a 1-off special shipment. Your vehicle will sit for X hours, Y days and Z minutes until the rail car slotted for the dealership delivery depot is made and full.

Ranger folks living within 20 minutes of the factory and with dealerships minutes away waited for days/weeks as their truck sat waiting for the right rail car to take their truck wherever that dealership takes delivery of their vehicles. So it doesn't matter how close/far you live from the factory.

Ford is excellent at this and builds vehicles for a living. They also have an entire shipment network and track everything. It isn't personal if you're the unlucky one who has to wait a few extra weeks. You can't speed up or slow down the process.

Albert - Is it possible for some dealers to have "reserved" some broncos via individuals that never intend to actually make a purchase? Then when the bronco arrives and the deal falls through, they have something to sell? (sorry if this has been asked before... )

Dealers won't have "stock" but we will still all be buying through a dealer. It's not like we are buying them off Amazon and the dealer is left to sell Transits.

They will still be moving units.

My dealer only has two reservations. So maybe a bit of frustration that thats all they will see for a while but I doubt they'd sell many more than that anyway. The bigger dealers will have a number of them come through and at least have them on the lot for the curious to see before they are actually delivered.

Probably but Ford will handle that...not something I want to be concerned with...

Zach will not allow the dealership employees to add their names unless they intend to title the Bronco...

Hmmm, I see trucks from the Kentucky plant roll on I-65 full of Super Dutys all the time.

I wonder if Chicago-lands proximity to Wayne will mean direct truck freight, thus faster trailer fill = faster delivery. Plus, I know they will put several dealers worth on the same truck to make the route efficent.

I'm fairly certain I will straight up CREAM!!! when I see a truck full of Broncos rolling down the road.
LOL!!
Rangers also ship from the same plant. You'll likely see many mixed loads. A car carrier can only hold about 7-8 vehicles, so heavy areas could take some time.

You'll see the same at most dealers that have a sizable number of reservations. They will end up with vehicles to put on their lot. I'm not sure why they would worry weather they're selling reserved orders or dealer orders? It's still a sale and same profit. A large portion of the reserved customers are likely the same one's that would walk into the dealership to buy if they had stock, so everyone should be happy.

100% correct. And then when it gets to the railhead waiting to be loaded on the transport, if your truck is a further walk for the truck driver who is loading than another truck, guess who’s Bronco is getting loaded first? I’ve had this happen to me, and there is absolutely nothing that the dealer or Ford can do about it, because a separate union is in charge of the transport drivers. Gripe too much, and they’ll make it sit there for a month ;-)

Obviously nothing but more speculation here, but one of my 3 local dealerships gave me the following when I inquired about possibly switching my reservation- "Once we place the order, it's a bit of a question mark regarding the timeframe for it to arrive. Typical orders for current lineup takes about 2-3 months, however we could potentially see a quicker turnaround time on the Broncos."

I mentioned the 2-3 month delivery after order seemed incredibly optimistic, to which I got: "The Bronco is a big release for Ford. Theres been a lot of time spent preparing for it so I can't imagine they are not ready to crank them out. My understanding is they are prioritizing the reservations initially over the "dealer units" so we should see any reservation builds pretty quickly."

Obviously the same wishful thinking we're all having here...but I'm fine with setting the expectation low and hoping to be pleasantly surprised before summer...if my truck lasts that long!! :p
