Double battery setup?

Hey guys,

Just got a used Wildtrak that came with the Ford Warn winch.
It’s come to my attention that it would be ideal to have the winch connected to its own battery.

Has anyone done this? If so, how? I’d hate to use it and the find out I’m stranded because I drained the battery.

The winch draws more power than the alternator will provide when in use so just having the car on isn’t a complete solution.

If not, is there anyway to hook something like a Jackery up to it in the field if ever necessary?

Don't the stock accessory switches cut off below a certain voltage? I would use those off a relay.

I've been using my 12K winch a lot this past year, all stock, and no issues with running the engine.

I do have an AUX switch wired to a solenoid that connects the winch directly to the battery

Leave running and your bronco won’t die.
I always used my winch with one battery since 07.

I have not even lifted the hood yet on my Bronco yet, but I did design and build one of the first dual battery set ups to shoehorn into an H3 Hummer. I kinda look forward to the challenge, but I am more then willing for others to take on the challenge and make it easy on me… LOL
