Here's my theory on why they went from 3,500 to 7,000 FE's:
I currently have two FE reservations...not because I wanted two. I reserved my first FE on 7/13 around 10:15 Eastern. I then received my reservation confirmation email and it indicated that i had reserved a badlands. I went straight back to the reservation system...created a new account and reserved an FE again..this time the email confirmation said I reserved an FE.
On 7/17 (a Friday), I received an email from Ford saying that my original reservation had an error in it and that it wasn't actually a Badlands but an FE.
On 7/21 (the following Monday) - they announced the increase to 7,000.
My guess is they had a glitch in the reservation system and overbooked them...instead of telling people that they didn't actually snag one of the first 3,500 FE's they just increased the limit to 7,000. Since they were already oversold, they didn't have to open up the reservation system again.
I'm currently holding onto the 2nd FE reservation as a friend of mine may want it. (I know I can't transfer...he'd give me money and I'd buy the car he wants)
