It's probably been addressed, but I can't find it. So, there was a software update to fix an issue with the 2.7L EBB system when used with a supplemental brake system. There was a TSB a year ago that had one remove specific fuses due to the ABS system not going into sleep mode. Supposedly the update to the ABS system has been out now.

My question is: Has anyone flat towed your Bronco after the update and did that solve the Supplemental Brake system issue? I'm getting ready to tow mine this summer with the Sup Brake system and would like to know the experience of others?

I've attached the original TSB-22-2210 and the latest BULLETIN sent to me from my dealer.

Who has had success with a specific model Supplemental Brake System with the EBB on the 2.7 Liter? Prefer a removable one but if someone has used a permanent install, like to hear about it.

For Removable: Brake Buddy says No. Roadmaster for their Evenbrake says no. Blue Ox Patriot BRK-2022 says yes. Awaiting to talk to RVI but their website indicates yes with a battery charging module.
Thanks
Bob

I use the Blue Ox system and have experienced NO Issues in over 2,000 miles of flat towing behind my motorhome.

Tom,
Good to hear.
You didn't say, but do you have the 2.7L V6 with EBB?
Thanks

Update: Did first time test tow with the Blue Ox towbar and Patriot Brake BRK-2022 system. Even though I had the software update for aux brake systems installed, I pulled the fuses per the TSB. All went well. Then I did a 2nd test tow without pulling fuses. All went well there also. No change in the aux brake system feel.

Question: It seems that with the EBB software update, I noticed that during initiation of the Neutral Tow mode, while pressing the brake pedal as part of the neutral tow procedure, the brake pedal lifted up after about 5 seconds like there was no more assist from the EBB. This makes sense if the software update was to turn off the EBB system.

Can anyone confirm they have experienced the same lifting of the brake pedal with no EBB assist? I've never put it in neutral tow prior to the EBB software update.

Yes and no ford wont tell you. all normal operation. However with my 2.7 after this software update that disables the brake system, it would come back on at random times and a stop would lock up the brakes, I had to take it in for another software update that cant be done OTA, but even with that it still locked up on me. I gave up. too many close calls in traffic and the wear and tear on my RV everytime it happened. I just dont use a brake system anymore.

Just an update got a new 24 bronco badlands 2.7 2dr. Test towed it today. Worked fine for about an hour, then on the way home right before ending my test the brakes locked up on me twice. I thought they had fixed this issue. I had just used the same setup RVI to tow a honda across country with no brake lockups so o know it's not the brake system. Is it just me??

Towed my 23 Bronco 2.7 2dr. over 8,000 miles with Zero issues. Remember a 12 volt charge to the Bronco from the tow vehicle is a MUST!
I use a Blue Ox portable braking system with braking Force and sensitivity set at 3. I have heard of some random issues with RVI braking systems on the 2.7 Broncos.
