I agree, but that's one of peoples biggest gripes about EV's. Soooo, attempt a solution they shall. What does that do to the car's batteries though? They'd get hot too. Plus, fast charging kills battery life.
Maybe they meant Electric RC cars. lolBoth my Bachelors and Masters degrees are in Physics.
This is pure BS.
The problem isn't the cable getting hot, although Tesla supercharing cables get uncomfortably warm to the touch, it's simply dumping that much current period.
Mach-E battery is 70-90 kwh. Let's call it 80.
80 kwh = 4,800,00 watt-minutes
So, assuming 100% efficiency (which of course does not exist) at 480 volts that would take 2000 amps to charge in 5 minutes.
In other news Ford can't ensure hose clamps are secured and not getting shredded by the fan belt. Travelng to dealer with my zip ties....woo hoo. (Couldn't help myself, I do appreciate the research, kind of cool if true. Sometimes you have to set audacious goals)Maybe they meant Electric RC cars. lol
