Just walked around the back end and noticed my hardware was rusting. Took a pic and then noticed rust and degrading paint. :( Will have to try to contact FP.
My bolts started rusting pretty quick too in the FL humidity. They were only black oxided and I installed them that way. I should have painted them first. For now what I am doing is spraying them with T9 Boshield- a product used more in the marine industry. Stuff work great- it removes and prevents rust.

Realized I ordered my diff cover through accessories.Ford.com…

Haven’t been able to figure out how to contact them through the website yet…

My order was through the accessories.ford.com site as well. I just provided my order details, and contacted ford performance at [email protected]

Got my replacement cover today! Now I’m trying to decide what to do.

Simply swap it out…

Have a more robust (maybe even Velocity Blue!) paint job put on it since I doubt Ford changed how they painted these since I bought mine…

Or repaint my existing cover and give this one to my BFF who recently got a WildTrak…

Has anyone tried applying a clear coat before installing?

Update, the new diff cover they sent me is starting to have the same issues.

I emailed them again, and I'm happy to report they are sending a new one, but should be an updated version per this email

My plan of action is going to be:

- Install the new version when it arrives (to hold them to their standard)
- Get the old one stripped and powder coated (just in case)

I’m having mine powder coated before installing.
