Driving down the road and see a big drift so I click my 22 OBX into 4H and I just get this crazy grinding noise from the front left. 4WD isnt working and even in 2WD isnt grinding like crazy. No way I can drive it to the dealer next week. I will be calling roadside assistance to come and pick it up. My guess is either the hub is pooched or worst case scenario something has let go in the front diff.

Do you have 4auto? Try it or try engaging/disengaging 4H repeatedly until the noise hopefully goes away, maybe parts just aren’t quite synced up?

I just have the std 2H, 4H and 4L. I will play around with it tomorrow but the way it is right now, it is not driveable to the dealer next week.

Had it towed to dealership yesterday. They just called and said the front differential is pooched. As crazy as it sounds, Ford is overnighting a complete assy to them and they said they will deliver it back to me on Friday.

You know what caused it? I got a regular click/thump that sounds like a rock in the wheel (got faster as I drove faster). I drove it 100 miles like this (out of town). Took it to dealer and they think the front diff is bad. Fix go okay?
