I know I’m way late to the party (and I’m switching to a permanent midland mxt575), but for people looking for a solution here, I’ve been using a Rocky Talkie 5 watt GMRS radio, with hand mic, extended antenna (there’s a longer whip antenna now, link below), and mount off of my grab handle using a ball, hand mic hanging from tacform mount clipped by hero switches

Big fan of the rugged (FRS) and 5W (gmrs) radios for backpacking and backcountry camping with my family. All the kids have one in their backpacks with handset coming out by their straps over their shoulder.

Big fan of the tidy look of the tackform mount too, very clean.
I was actually wondering if that mount from Tackform would work with the Rocky Talkie hand mic. I've had a hard time finding something that works with their style clip.

Rattles around a bit but that’s ok.
