Hey everyone!
I just went on my first longer distance drive with my Bronco (45 minutes of highway).
I enabled the lane keeping and noticed every so often it would disable the music and tell me to keep my hands on the steering wheel.

The problem here is that they already were on the steering and had never left it.
In 45 minutes this happened 3-4 times even though the lane keeping was never activating because I was not near the lines.

Is this normal?
Its honestly kinda annoying.

I believe this is triggered by not having to make any corrections. My Bronco's steering is tight, and it tracks perfectly. I get this warning on long stretches of straight roads. Doesn't really matter if your hands never leave the wheel.

Too much straight, and any quick left/right movements will trigger this message.

I had this happen a few weeks ago while driving in heavy rush hour traffic, and honestly I was impressed... thought it was great idea to remind you that you have to stay alert and drive defensively ( which is rare for most people today!). Sorry, but I just wanted to share a different perspective.

It isn't just the Bronco, my F-150 did this as well when I was using Lane Keep Assist. I finally used the ankle weight hack on the F-150 and it eliminated the issue, but the assist doesn't track as well with the Bronco so I just jiggle the wheel a little when it comes up.

I turned off the Lane Keep Assist when I first brought it home... I have never had the message pop up in 13,000 miles.

Exactly. It punishes smooth driving.

"kind of annoying" might be today's understatement. I've turned mine off unless on a longer highway trip.

That happens to me too, I just consider it a testament to how well the Bronco drives down the road. They track so well that lane centering doesn’t see any torque applied on the steering wheel and assumes you don’t have hands on the wheel. I’ve driven Jeeps, and it’s safe to say that this message wouldn’t pop up on them.

[Price] - [Cost of (Useless Feature)/(1-Margin%)] = [What the price should be]

It's an absolutely useless feature. If people really need a reminder to keep their hands on the steering wheel, they shouldn't be on the road to begin with. I'd rather see a cell phone explode in someone's hand as a corrective measure than vehicles ping-ponging from the double yellow to the white line while the steering wheel buzzes and an annoying alarm goes "plz... plz... hands on wheel... I was programmed to sound weak and frail... Also, communism doesn't work because nobody has done it right yet... I need my hourly software update to survive..."

I've lost too many family members, friends, and vehicles to bad drivers. Nannyisms don't fix nor help, and only add unnecessary cost and more failure modes.
