(Sigh) My point here is that aftermarket tops are really, really expensive. An afternoon and a couple of cans of bedliner paint is cheap, and can't hurt anything by trying.
You aren't wrong.

I wouldn’t put $2k into a problem that will prob continue happening. I think I’d just remove any loose bits and coat the whole top in black truck liner, see how long it lasts and call it a day. Eventually I bet you there will be quite a few of us doing the same. I see 2 door MICs on FB market listed in the $2-$3k price range anyways pretty regularly so seems like you could pick up an entirely new one for that $ relatively easily if you really wanted to.

No keyboard Warrior here, this is a great lesson for all of us to double check our rigs closely and regularly before our warranty expires. Especially shocks, hard top, soft top, just about everything. Should do it with any vehicle coming out of warranty!

I agree that Ford should offer a much better mic top - if Jeep can make a decent mic top then Ford should be able to - after all, "Quality Is Job One". But now I am wondering how the painted modular tops will hold up and how they are constructed. If they are constructed better than the Mic tops, then Ford should offer the painted modular top as the replacement top for the Mic top. Heck - if I knew that the painted modular top was built to last, and it was available for sale now as a Ford part, I would even pay full price for one now.

i don’t know about full price, but the could give me one as a warranty upgrade for the top they are about to replace. I would shell out the difference.

That makes sense - and yes Ford should offer you the painted modular top for the difference - but only if the painted modular top is proven to be built to last - and of course there has to be enough being made that they can be offered as a replacement top. Since I have a new 2024 with the Mic top, if the painted modular top were proven to be a much better top, to avoid any issues with my top down the road (or should I say with my top on the road), I would be willing to pay full price now for a painted modular top, if and when it is available.

Well, 15 days out of my warranty and the hard top literally blew off, Ford is charging me over $2,000.00 to replace.

Started with a crack and then blew off, I had to rip it off...
Hard tops aren't going to just blow off. If a crack was that big it would have been flopping in the wind a long time.

DUCT TAPE??? You're kidding, right? Again: remove the top. Remove the delaminated area all the way to the ends of the affected panel. You can apply fiberglass resin on the leveled surface and clean clean it up. Tape, prep and hit the repaired panel with bedliner paint. PLEASE don't use duct tape. Geez. Wait until the Jeep guys hear about this one....

And if a guy would need some tips on how to use it, watch a few episodes of Red Green.
