Hey everyone,

So a few months back, I grabbed a Bronco. Coming from a long line of F150's, it's of course a good bit noisier (but about 10x more fun to drive, I'll add). I love low NVH low noise vehicles but I went for the Bronco anyway.

I have the MIC top WITH the added sound deadening (factory) - 2.7L Black Diamond, and I found it VERY reasonable even at 80MPH from the factory. I heard the sound of air rushing over me, but no weird whistles, no super loud wind, just some white noise. Stereo on volume 14+ and it begins to fade.

Regardless, I do drive a lot (~30k miles a year) so I figured if I can improve this at all, that's a huge win in my book, so I grabbed the J Tops Bimini top and a black comforter on Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08QCFVV4W?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title) and that's it! I saw someone else do this with a soft top and decided to try on a hard top.

I spent the hour it takes to install the J Tops Bimini (not a bad install, decent product) and layed the comforter over top. I then assembled the rear hatch area, middle panel and front panel, slowly working the comforter flat thru the zippers in the bimini. I was able to reach up and pull it all of the way to the front after getting the two front panels on, and the comforter fits great. It's definitely too large, but it's on the thinner side and is easy to maneuver around between the hard top and the bimini.

The result? I can hear the General Grabbers now, couldn't hear those before, LOL. If it was a 4/10 before, it's a definite 6/10 now. It's no Expedition or F150, but MAN does it take any edge off. I can see this helping with any sort of whistles in crosswind, too. I'm very happy, as it definitely took away all of the "echo" or hollow feeling the cabin had (boy, what are they like with the MIC and NO factory deadening? Sheesh).

I have done no other mods to the top, nor do I plan to, but this was super easy and cheap, and I recommend you give it a shot.

Somewhat related: if you have any creaks, groans or pops from your top anywhere, take it all apart and lubricate every rubber seal with this: https://www.amazon.com/Krytox-Greas..._tag=se&keywords=krytox&qid=1728350267&sr=8-3

It's the best in the biz, is featured in several Ford TSBs, and is effective for a very long time. My top sounds like it did when I drove off of the lot, now - creak and pop free.

Hope this helps!

I have a question about the krytox grease. Will it preserve seals? My top is quiet and would like to keep the seals from deteriorating.

it 100% preserves seals. It’s expensive but you don’t need a lot at all. That tube will likely do the hard top twice, all of the seals, or dang close.

Following up - top is creak, pop and whistle free after 1k miles of driving. I anticipate it will remain that way. Krytox is the best.

What did you do with the excess blanket material? Could you fold it over and have it still not be too thick to fit? Or did you cut it and hem it?

Thinking of this for my 2dr. Like the idea of not only quieting things down a bit - but also having an emergency blanket for winter travel.
