Hard top price if I buy it after sales from Ford parts?

HI,

I'm thinking about switching to a soft top and then adding a hard top later. Do we have any idea of the price it will cost? Any drawbacks that you are aware of? Thanks!

my best guess for MIC is in the $2900-$3200 (soft top $1800 plus $700 for MIC plus shipping) range with shipping to your dealer. Mod top is easily going to jump to double that due to the higher original delta price increase ($2500 more) when it was on B&P plus shipping (and additional for local paint as it will be substantially more than the factory cost).

We don't know what the price will be... Ford hasn't announced that yet. But we do know it'll be substantially more than the $700 option upgrade from the factory.

After talking to the sales folks and the parts guys from the dealership, they expect it to be around $3000 - $3500 when bought separately. Two of the part guys said "if someone told me it's going to cost $4000 once you add in the freight shipping I wouldn't be surprised".

I intend to eventually get both tops (perhaps an aftermarket option for the second top). But the shipping costs are the biggest reason why I'm sticking with the hard top on my order even though the wait is going to take forever. You can flat-pack & ship a soft top in the back of the average UPS/FedEx truck. Hard tops have to be shipped via freight.

Ford could use it as an opportunity to smooth things over, but probably not.

One option I’ve been thinking about is to switch my MIC order to a soft top and hope the aftermarket comes out with something good within a reasonable time period. I’m sure many others are considering this too.
