Good morning! I have been looking for resources on Bronco updates, tracking, etc., which led me to this forum.

I reserved my Bronco in July of 2020 but was bumped to the 2022 model (like a lot of us). I placed my 2022 order with my dealership (Sons FORD Auburn) on November 1, 2021. Received my order confirmation from Ford on December 29, 2021. Still waiting for a production date.

2022 Bronco Wildtrak™ 4 Door:
  • 2.7L EcoBoost® V6 Engine
  • 10-Speed Automatic Transmission
  • 17” Black High Gloss-Painted Aluminum with Black Beauty Ring Beadlock Capable
  • 35" LT315/70R17 Mud-Terrain Tires
  • Velocity Blue Metallic
  • Cloth Sandstone Black Seats
  • Wildtrak with Lux Package
  • Sasquatch™ Package
  • Towing Capability Package
  • Paint Protection Film
  • Molded-In-Color (MIC) hardtop
Trying to remain optimistic that I will have it by this summer but am not holding my breath.

According to this article posted on Ford Authority if I removed the last 3 options I listed above (towing, Paint Protection, and MIC Hardtop), I stand a good chance of getting it a lot faster (possibly spring). With that said, the first two (Towing and Paint Protection) I am fine with utilizing aftermarket options but I really want a MIC Hardtop.

Question - if I switched to a soft-top model what does - Fully Prepped for MIC roofs really mean? And does the MIC roof come with a cost or is it free? My dealer has not been able to answer these questions.

Thanks in advance and looking forward to connecting with everyone and seeing the new Bronco pictures roll in!

The hard top prep kit means that all the wiring and controls are there for you when you get a HT…wiper and fluid.

No, it’s not free…you’ll have to purchase a HT from Ford or an after market manufacturer.

For sure drop the PPF.

Wildtrak was modular roof then MIC, not sure about now if you can choose soft top on the WT.

Prep kit includes defroster and water line/wiper hookup if you choose a hard top later.

Hang in there and stay pumped.

Prepped for hardtop means they added the connections and wires for the rear window washer wiper stuff. NO the hard top is not free and it is not available right now anyway.

One thing you can do to improve your odds of getting your bronco is to call up the dealer and remove the paint protection film from your order.

Last thing I saw on this forum was that there was enough PPF to fill 1% of the orders!

You have almost no chance with that on your order.

I don't think you should move to a softie unless you are really excited about a softie because to add a hard top down the road is going to cost you thousands of dollars. I dropped tow (kept my MIC top) and got scheduled the very next week. I do not have PPF, but they are currently building a very small % of PPF vehicles so take that for what it is worth.

Thanks everyone. Going to call the dealership now and drop the PPF and Towing option and then have the order resubmitted.

Really appreciate the help and insight!
