Help me with muffler delete

I have this one from Flowmaster on my 2 door 2.3 manual. For a straight pipe its a lot quieter than I would have thought, but it is still a straight pipe. It does tuck under the back bumper just a little more than I would like. At 70 on the interstate its pretty mild. When I get on it I sounds pretty good to me.

Is there a reason for that location vs the rear where the muffler was

Manufacturer recommendation. The sooner you cancel out unwanted soundwaves, the less drone you will have. There also isn't much flat/straight real estate at the rear
