Has anyone had an issue with the hood not closing all the way? I’ve opened it a couple times and have had severe issues getting the hood to latch into the mechanism. Even if I push the hood down, it still doesn’t latch securely. 2.3 Outerbanks Soft top. TIA!
I had the same issue. I adjusted the hood bump stops by a turn lower each and now it closes fine.

Just ran into this yesterday. Like others have said you can lower those foam bump-stops a hair, but it’ll close with where they’re at (it was fully closed at one point). Don’t push on it in that half-latched position! Give that bad boy a nice drop/slam. It is a truck supposed to climb mountains, you can give it a little juice when you close it up.

correct! I can drop it from about 6” and it’ll catch the first stage but not the second. I can’t pull it up without sliding the release.
6"?

I normally drop a hood from twice that height. You may simply not be dropping it from a good enough height based on hood weight.

Yep. Matter of fact had the issue at the dealer at pick up. I haven’t messed with any adjustments, but it did work with letting it drop from a higher distance.

I noticed the same thing out at Granger motors. A non issue in my opinion. After 15 years the struts will go bad and it will easily close! Ask me how I know!

My Escape has an aluminum hood. Just give it a good drop. The only dents mine got were from Mother Nature.

Be careful trying to force it closed with your hands. You can dent an aluminum hood pretty easy. Get it adjusted if it won’t close right with a good drop.

Since this hasn't been mentioned, try spaying a little white lithium grease in the latch mechanism.

I never "push" a hood down.... just let 'er drop from a decent height.

Is it getting latched at the first stage, but not all the way down?
agree... pushing a hood down puts a dent in it

Phew thanks for that answer! I was worried I’d have to take this damn thing back to the dealership again!
