No need for a keypad if you have the Ford pass. Unlike it from your phone from anywhere
But the allure of the keypad (at least for me) is not needing to carry a phone/fob/key. Example, showed up for a marathon in my buddy's truck with keypad. Locked everything in the car and didn't need to worry about running with a key. Have used that functionality other times when kayaking or triathlon open water swim training. I'm probably getting the OEM keypad as unattractive as it looks, unless there is some slick alternative.

It might fit removing the black outer cover. I'd be very curious to see if this "master code" works as no one has been able to get theirs to program on a Ranger. Even Phil who is a retired Ford employee said there's no way to do this without having the dealer install it. His is now a paperweight as he refused to pay another $100 to have it programed. Please let us know if this does work.

Here's one member who went through a whole lot of trouble to do it on his own. It would've been easier to just pay the dealer. lol

It fits fine, no need to do anything.

Would love to revisit this topic and see if anyone has had info on getting the dealer to program. I received a keypad for Christmas and my dealer is saying it’s a full day drop off (which sounds like a complete joke for something that probably takes ~30min).

So the moral of this story (thread) is that only the dealer can program this keypad if ordered after the fact, and Forscan is of no use to do it ourselves?

Correct. There’s a separate system they need to hook it up to. (DRS I think).

Royal Oak Ford charged me $40, although it took them ~40 minutes.
