Caveat: Not sure about Magic Box specifically, there are a number of folks who make similar devices.

I bought the Carlinkit version on the recommendation of someone here. While it is nice to have full control, and no nanny-state limitations on what you can see and do the reality is a little more rough. The interface is absolutely terrible and the performance leaves a lot to be desired. The screen is laggy and slow, and I'll be honest I did not have a lot of confidence in the security of this device and what it might do with my Google credentials.

The amount of times I've had to fully power the device off and back on just to restore basic touchscreen control is kind of rough.

My only real use of this thing now is so my kids can watch a movie from the back seat. I had hoped this would let me offload OnX Offroad to a dedicated device, but it doesn't even seem to be great at that.

I have the Magic Box 2.0. Also got it mostly so kids could watch movies in the back. Works reasonably well but sometimes the Bronco absolutely will not link up with it. Not sure if that's a Bronco issue or a Magic Box issue. It also sometimes randomly disconnects, which is frustrating when driving as you can't get it to reconnect until you stop. I don't know if those issues have been fixed or improved on the 3.0.

I will say it's also nice if you're stopped somewhere and want to watch... anything. I have YouTube TV so I've watched live Football games, hockey on ESPN, etc. while waiting in the car.
