both look nice on a show car, both look like a PITA in real life, so not for me. But it's your ride, go the way that feels right to you and show us what it looks like!

Matte is basically dull and flat. No reflective qualities at all. Satin is flat but has a slight gloss that reflects a little light. Not as much as a semi-gloss. But not as dull as matte.
There's the answer!

In terms of gloss it goes like this, in increasing order of gloss and DOI (Distinction of image):

Flat
Matte
Satin
Semi Gloss
Gloss
Euro Gloss ( a lot of clear coat manufacturers offer a Euro clear now, typically less viscous, lower percentage of solids, which can give a bit higher final gloss, depending on application method and equipment setup).

Actually satin finishes are pretty easy to keep clean. Harley has been using them for several years. No need to wash. No need to wax. The best and proven way to clean it is with......are you ready??

With Pledge furniture polish.

Matte or satin paint is a PITA to take care of. I like the look but if I were to do it I would do it with a matte or satin paint protection film from 3M or Xpel. It costs about $6k but cheaper than a paint job and much easier to maintain. You can easily peel it off when you sell your vehicle and the paint will look like new.

Here’s a friends corvette with the satin PPF getting installed.
