My rear window exploded!

Sorry about that. Bummer. Dosnt hurt to try an auto-glass shop. You know what the dealer side of the repair will be. Might as well check what third party shops will charge. Not sure if they will do it but take 30min, google maps "auto glass repair", call the first 5 and ask if they will do it. They will likely have to order the part as the rear glass is not as common as the windshield cracking. Worth a shot. Thanks for sharing. I'll be alert when closing mine. I did get ceramic coating on all the windows when I tinted so hopefully that reduces heat, idk. Let us know how it turns out. Im sure you are not the first and not the last.

Glass shops can absolutely do it and typically more experienced. Most auto dealers subcontract their glass work to independent glass shops anyways.

Why yes. Yes this just happened to my 2021 4 door as well. I had just had it in the shop to have the rear defrost cable mount reattached to the back window and then my husband and son in law went to close it and it exploded. Cut my husbands face and he and my son in law's forearms it came out with such force. Ford Dealership felt it was unrelated to their repair which I agree but it does seem like an odd coincidence. Question is, if they farm it out to glass companies how does Ford even hear about it happening if there is an issue that needs to be addressed. Safelight has placed a new window already. It is not factory but I am wondering if that is a good thing now LOL. Still absolutely LOVE my Yeti Bronco though. Over 25k miles already. Wish they would come up with a quick attach rain shield for the hard tops though. One you can actually drive with .

This happened to me as well. Regular night, reached up to close the window and as soon as I applied pressure to close it, it shattered into a thousand pieces as it is designed to do. IA month after my dealership ordered a new one, it arrived but low and behold, when it arrived it was also in a thousand pieces. So now waiting for another to arrive. The dealership at least said it would be under warranty (I also purchased the extended warranty but I think this falls under the regular warranty as I have had the vehicle less than a year). Going forward I feel like I need to handle it like a delicate flower, not a window in a back country off road vehicle.

There's a video of one exploding in a parking lot caught on surveillance camera....the guy thought someone smashed it until they pulled security video.. if I remember correctly it got warrantied only because of video.
