I’m looking to get a tent but i worry about the MIC top strength. Does it feel solid when your in the tent.? I have read here somewhere a member could see the sides of the clamshell deflecting outward a bit when in the tent. With me and the wife and gear it would be around 360 lbs so wondering how the top would fare with that weight.

The rack is a RCI and usually has two Pelican cases up there with my FSR tent.

It’s seems solid, I had a roof top tent on a trailer before. This is the first time on a vehicle. I’ll have to see if I notice anything in a couple of days. I haven’t had it long enough to say.

As you should be be. IIRC the dynamic load limit is 140 lb, tiny. Check out the JCR Roof Rack with the added/optional reinforcement. It creates a direct load path from the rack to the roll bar, leaving the MIC almost unloaded. Mine is (finally) on the way to accommodate my RTT. Best system available speaking as a consumer and engineer.

Do you know what the actual weight of the tent was? The amazon link showed 172 lbs but I wasn't sure if that was shipping weight.
