Yeah that’s only supposed to come out enough to release the handle. Now that it’s completely out you’ll more than likely have to pull the whole latch and reinforcement out to reset it.

Okay here is everything you should need.
First you'll have to remove the rear door panel (if you haven't already)
then in order to get the latch assembly out, you'll need to remove the rear window glass, then the latch itself.
I attached a PDF for each of the procedures including the rear glass alignment procedure in case you need it after reinstalling the glass.

After the exterior door handle adjustment bolt is reinstalled in the reinforcement/latch assembly, you need to make sure the reinforcement is set correctly to get the exterior handle back in. I highly suggest you do this before reinstalling the window glass or door trim panel.

Thanks you for these not sure If I can handle a job like this, Ford Dealer would most likely want a arm and 2 leg's for this job.

I understand.
There is an easier way to get it back into position, but I'm not sure I would even know where to begin to explain how without actually being there in person to do it. It's very tricky, especially if you don't know exactly how the reinforcement works to lock in the exterior handle.

This is a very rippin thread. Such technicality and tenacious moves to get the job done. Carry on with this dialogue. 🍿

I was going to tell you to go to your local body shop or glass shop. Glad you saved your arms and legs!
