My OBX is due to arrive this week and looking to buy/order my tires today. Minimal if any off roading. Mainly a cruiser for around town and some family trips. But I do enjoy the more aggressive stance.

I have rtr 6 wheels 17” with +30 offset waiting. I was originally gonna go with general grabbers but read a lot on the forums of rocks being thrown.

so the current plan is to go with the Falken wildpeaks A/T3w. 275/70/17 this seems to be the sweat spot for size for the OBX with no mods. Choosing the wildpeaks even though a little more expensive due to as mentioned rock chips and seen a few people mention a softer quieter ride.

so I just need someone smarter than me to tell me I’m on (or not) the right track and making the right choice before I drop another $1500.00.
thanks

I kept stock OBX and mounted 275/70/18 KO2's. You need mud flaps to address rock/debris issue. On 17 inch rims you can go to 285/70/17 KO2's with no mods (lift and/or crash bar removal). My 2 cents. JCG

Since the rim is smaller, your 275s are actually almost the exact diameter of the stock tires. So you could actually do a larger tire. I’m not sure how offset is going to play with the suspension components, but in terms of overall diameter you could handle 285/70/17

Those looks good. Wish I could have the AMB. Anyway…did you just do the mud flaps on the rear? I kno there’s some issues with getting them on around the side step.

And this is why we ask questions… thanks!

I spoke with the Discount Tire rep here about the fitment of the +30 RTR's, and 285/70R17 tires on my ordered OBX. He opined that this sizing should put the tire treads flush with the outside of the fenders, and have a little poke of the sidewall. So with the 275's you should be good there.

I have the 285/70R17 KO2's on my Wrangler. With the E load rating they ride just fine. The Wild Peaks have a C load rating, so again you should be fine there. Plus, the size is so close you don't have to worry about recalibrating your speedometer.

IMHO, you've made a good choice for the way you will use your Bronco.

Guess the question now is do I go up to the 285 instead of the 275.

Just some food for thought. I lost 2 mpg with my 3.6L Jeep when I went to 285's. They look great, but them suckers are heavy.

I just want to make sure the 275 are changing the look enough to justify the money I suppose

I get it my friend. I'm going through the same thing trying to decide what to do with my OBX when it arrives. Tires are not cheap these days. And when you add in the price of wheels it's a good chunk of change. Good luck.
