Offset question - SAS wheels vs Ford Perf/Methods

Hey guys,

Any idea why the Ford Performance/Method wheels are ET35 vs the ET30 of the factory SAS wheels? That means the FP/Methods sit 5mm inboard compared to the OE wheels. I'm just wondering what the logic is here. I assume everything clears just fine with OE sized tires?

5mm is less than a 1/4” in so I doubt it would make a huge difference….

Oh yes I know but I find it odd the official Ford aftermarket wheels would feature an offset that brings the wheels in vs out.

And, coming from the performance car world, 5mm can be a big problem. Heck, even 2mm can sometimes be the difference between rubbing on a strut or fender lip.

I think it is mainly just one of methods standard offsets….i run +35 methods but with a +3.5” long arm Running a factory tire size I highly doubt it would be an issue.
