Genesis Offroad just released the Omega Dual Battery System for the Bronco.

Ford Bronco Omega Dual Battery System Now Available! [Genesis Offroad] Bronco OMEGA_Installed 1

This version uses a Redarc Alpha dc-dc charger to charge up your accessory battery while you are driving. You can use it with a lithium or AGM accessory battery, and we recommend using an AGM for your cranking battery. We offer the Dakota Lithium 135Ah battery to go with it.

The included bracket for mounting the charger has extra room for you to mount your own extra devices, such as an sPOD Bantam or other fuse boxes, relays, winch power solenoid, etc. That bracket is also available to purchase separately here if you just need a place to mount some components.

Unlike our Gen 3 Dual Battery System which links the 2 batteries together in parallel to charge them via the alternator, the Omega system keeps your accessory battery 100% separate from your cranking battery. It does have a reverse charge mode too - if your cranking battery is too low to start the engine, you can use the Redarc Redvision app to put the Alpha charger into Recovery mode. This will let the charger pull power from your accessory battery in order to charge your cranking battery up for 15 minutes to help you start the engine.

Like all our systems, the Omega system is completely pre-wired for you out of the box, so it is super easy to install. You can drop this into your Bronco in your driveway in just a couple hours or even less.

We keep lots of inventory in stock for the fastest shipping times in the industry. To learn more, please visit our website here.

Here's our step-by-step installation guide for the Bronco.

In this video, Shane from Genesis Offroad and Erich from Redarc discuss the benefits and limitations of the Gen 3 system and the Omega system to help you decide which one is right for you!

Redarc has a battery out already, the Alpha150. Obviously it would require customization to mount in the rear.

Can someone correct me if I'm wrong, but is a setup like this essentially the same as having an EcoFlow/Bluetti power station and an alternator charger? If so, I'm guessing the main advantage is the fact that this is always in the vehicle and doesn't take up cargo space?

Looks like a neat product, and a nice plug 'n'n play style system. The DC charger bracket covers the fuse box? Only fuse access now is to remove the charger bracket?

I am also weary with putting a lithium battery in the hot engine bay

It's cool, but I prefer the old Gen 3 setup. The new Omega system doesn't have a power/ground bus included in the kit so there's no easy way to connect devices.

Which... seems silly. Got a cool new dual battery kit, but it doesn't include an easy way to connect devices to that battery.

You just have a loosen a bolt and then it swings away. Kinda nifty.

I may buy the mounting plate by itself to be honest.

I have the ecoflow system and it works great, powers my starlink so when I turn off the engine, its still up, charges the battery when I need it. Space is what it takes, so if you can’t spare it, this is the way to go.

hey don’t call gen3 old, I just installed it yesterday! CRAZY TIGHT FIT with injen intake and cvf charge pipes on the 2.7. Starter battery definitely right up against the charge pipe silicone junction at point closest to oil filler cap. Thought about trying to cut and modify the wire channel at base of fuse box since it’s plastic and the other side is the frame structure that goes to the radiator.

ran out of daylight to finish the display screen install - doing the Wolfbox wiring at same time.

I do like that fuse panel top platform though!

Correct, you'll loosen the bolt behind the fuse box since it's harder to access. And remove the bolt at the front which is much more accessible, then swing the bracket out of the way. Takes 2 minutes to move it if you ever need access inside the fuse box. Unfortunately there's just not any other convenient spot to mount a bracket onto.

As for the bus bars, I thought about adding that to the Bronco Omega kit, but my thought process was that people who want to run a lithium battery would likely also want to run something like an sPOD or other aux fuse box, so I left enough room next to the Redarc charger to mount an sPOD Bantam or anything else you want to put there. If you would like to add our bus bar on there, it would be very simple, you can order one by itself here - https://www.genesisoffroad.com/products/dual-busbar

Heat and cold is certainly something to plan for when using lithium batteries. We did a lot of testing with temperature sensor probes, and because the lithium battery is all the way up at the front corner behind the headlight, and it has another battery right next to it, it is well shielded from the heat from the engine, so it shouldn't be an issue in the Bronco. If you're in very cold climates, that can be an issue as well, but the Dakota Lithium battery we offer has a built-in heater that will warm it up above freezing to allow it to charge and discharge properly.
