Paint To Match (PTM) Grille

I picked up a Ford OEM paint-to-match Wildtrak grille. I've read that these come "in primer" from the factory, but to my inexperienced eyes, it looks like plain, uncoated plastic. Are they primered?

I have 24 hours to decide on a color, as I'm taking it to a local body shop tomorrow after work. After painting, is it safe to assume that it should be clearcoated? To be quite honest, I'm happy with the black finish it came in out of the box. LOL! I'd throw it on the Bronco as is, but I'm afraid it would turn chalky with time.

Can anyone who has bought one of these grilles elaborate? Thanks!

If not then the bodyshop will do it (or redo it probably). I'd just worry about what color to paint it if you haven't decided yet.

Velocity Blue, satin black, gloss black, or Wimbledon White. LMAO!

I did this and had a body shop paint shadow black. Can’t help with primer question but am sure my guys put clear on it. Good luck with your build!

If your Bronco is blue, I would do blue on the outside and white or silver on the center...

Here's a few for you. Glossy black is just a WT. My original idea was blue surround and silver on grille.

I had mine painted two-tone AMB and Carbonized Gray with AMB letters.

Yes, Bronco will be Velocity Blue. It's being built in 3 days, then I can only pray for a fast completion and delivery. LOL!

Two-tone VB and Iconic Silver would look good and be a safe combo.

I just painted mine Truck Bed Liner to match the color and texture to the bumper.
