What’s up y’all! I’ve been slowly planning where to take the next phase of my Bronco build and coming up with some ideas. Eventually I’d like to go with a soft sort of long travel but am hesitant to do the high price or the spacers on my rear axle to accommodate for the extra width up front.

A lot of people recommend ordering a wider Dana 60 axle for the width made for a bolt on installation into the Bronco. That’s cool and all but the price is insane, plus a Dana 60 axle looses some hefty diff clearance.

My question: I’ve searched everywhere and want to know how much wider the Raptor Dana 50 is over the M220 axle. At $2700 for the entire assembly that’s a steal for an axle rated by Ford for a 37” tire. I’d dare say it will take a 40” just fine. Probably about as fine as my M220 takes a 37” right now.

It seems like a no brainer to purchase a Dana 50 Braptor rear axle, cut off and reweld some brackets and call it a day.

Am I missing something?

Same gearing, different sensors maybe that won’t talk to my Bronco? Ford parts says it fits for what it’s worth.

@ChrisB351 - We had this discussion a few weeks ago didn't we? If time and money weren't a problem......

Think you could grab a measurement of the Raptor's rear axle tube for @popo_patty?

Raptor is approx 69" from flange to flange. Black diamond is about 61. Pic for reference of where I measured.
Which makes sense as the raptor is said to be 8.6" wider.

Wow that's wide. Wider than a Super Duty rear.

@popo_patty - I was just thinking about this a little more and wanted to point out that if you swap to the Raptor rear axle, you’ll have to deal with the different wheel stud spacing and thread size.

I feel like you probably already know that, but wanted to point it out for those that may not realize there’s a difference between the Bronco and Bronco-R.

Good point! I was looking into a different wheel in the back or swapping out the stud spacing if feasible… idk. Still early stages.

Coming back around to this… rear axle seems fairly easy to put in though after modifying it to work with the same bolt pattern it might be just as cheap to get a custom length Spicer unit… my next question is for the front axle. I’m trying to see (without purchasing a set quite yet), how much longer the raptor front axle shafts are over the Bronco ones. Google isn’t helping much and I don’t wanna guess.
The other curiosity i have is if the Braptor front axle shafts will plug into my bronco M210 and hubs… or if I would have to swap in the Braptor M210 with a raptor hubs/knuckles.

I’ve been starting to think about this myself after I put a Apg long arm on the front of my bronco. It would seem like a good way to get a slightly upgraded wider rear axle that could match the 4.70 front end. As far as the different bolt patterns I wonder if the raptor front 6x135 unit bearing would bolt onto the bronco spindle? There doesn’t seem to be a ton of info out there yet on what is interchangeable and what is totally different.
