Do you think that was a gift from the factory or something that happened later? In aerospace mechanics are supposed to shadow in their tool boxes and do inventory daily to make sure that doesn't happen. Those little buggers could cause some problems in various spaces on an A/C.
It was a gift from Ford. I soaked it in Kroil and it's in my spare tool kit working like new...

I bought my bronco heritage last year, and we were driving in SMA soon after. The streets are cobblestone, and people generally drive slowly. However, near the place we stayed, there was a long stretch of cobblestone road and there were two noises I heard: 1) the normal sound of the bumpy road. 2) there was a slightly higher, kinda like something jiggling in a tin can. The noise would come and go, and generally only noise (1) could be heard, but every once in a while noise (2) would come back for a bit, then only noise (1) could be heard. This is the only place/situation that I heard it, even in SMA.

When I got back, I did take it to a mechanic that I trust, and he used a rubber mallet to bang different parts underneath the car. He found that when he banged on the gas tank, a sound came out that didn't sound normal. That was the only place he said that he found a strange noise.

He recommended I take it back to the dealer to get it looked at. However, the dealer went out of business, but later came back as a different dealer. Anyways, I still haven't gone back. Tho, I only heard the noise in SMA.

He did recommend when going back to the dealer, that I stay with them so when they bang on the fuel tank, and we both can hear the sound.

I did look up the fuel tank on ebay and the ford website. It looks like there is tubing that runs along the top of the gas tank. It might be that. I wonder if some strap or other mechanism for keeping it in place is loose or something. Anyways, I haven't looked further into this cause I'm too lazy. :)

Hmm, thats interesting. Ill have to take a look at that. Ive been hanging out of the bronco with doors off trying to locate it. Sometimes i feel its coming from the front, or right under me...annoying.

Yeah, I forgot to record the noise as it was happening. I didn't think of it at the time. :-(

Well found the culprit and I can’t believe I missed it. Got back under the bronco and tapping around with rubber mallet. My drive train skid plate was twanging pretty good. Noticed a bolt missing from the front and the 2 rear bolts were barely hanging on by a thread. Tightened everything up and rattle is gone but I think the missing bolt side may have made a noise haha

I need to replace that bo. Anyone know where I can get one and what size is it
