Finally took my doors and top off this year. As I was driving down a somewhat bumpy road at about 25mph, I have noticed a rattling/jingling under the Bronco. I feel its under the engine, but its hard for me to pinpoint while driving. Seems to happen when it gets bumpy. My local dealership wants $280 just to look at it. Does anyone know what I can look at on my own to find it. Ive been under the hood and under thevehicle, but I havent seen anything loose.

Any ideas?

Maybe exhaust hangers. I know the one in the drivers side frame rail nearest the catalytic converter gives me some problems with my aftermarket exhaust.

Edit: Oh, that's on a 2.7 WT...not sure what kind of shenanigans you Raptorian types for going on under there.

Is the noise just over bumps ? My raptor makes a odd tingy sounds on acceleration sometimes but I chalked it up to the exhaust actuators

When i knock on skid plate, it does sound kind of twangy, but not the same quality of sounds. Only happens on bumps. I dont have anything aftermarket on this yet. About a year ago i ran over a tire on the highway going about 70, but I havent heard this noise til now. COuld it be suspension related?

Do you have stock wheels? I have a rattling at low speeds and after a while I found out it was the push through cap in my Method wheels (it's two pieces and a small bolt is loose). At low speeds as it spins it would click going side to side. I would also maybe crawl under there and check for any loose bolts from skid plates.

Have someone else drive and try different positions inside to try to pinpoint the location. A while back, my wife's Jeep GC had a weird rattle we thought was coming from the inside of the back. I got in the back and had her drive, and immediately knew it wasn't back there, or inside at all. Got out and had her drive while I walked next to it and figured out it was coming from the running board. Found a loose nut and had it fixed in a few minutes ;)

When I was in Highschool, my car had a loose exhaust shield. Took forever for me to find that one.

I found this when changing driveline fluids for the first time:

You can see the stain where it came to rest and rusted/rattled...
Hmmm, Ill check that out too

Do you think that was a gift from the factory or something that happened later? In aerospace mechanics are supposed to shadow in their tool boxes and do inventory daily to make sure that doesn't happen. Those little buggers could cause some problems in various spaces on an A/C.

I emptied about a sandwich bag of rocks out of my old Bronco a couple months back. They found their way up behind the skid plate and bumper. Drive me nuts until I found them.
