I’m a fairly decent mechanic. How difficult are the diffs and transfer case to do at home?

The front Differential and transfer case are very easy. Both have drain and fill plugs. You just need a 3/8" drive ratchet and short extension for those. The rear differential requires you pulling the cover to drain it. It's an easy job also, and the gasket is reusable. I recommend buying the bags of gear oil/transmission fluid vs the quart bottles. It's quicker and alot less mess.

Bingo! Great thread! That thread got me started. All I have left to do is the tranny and PPE pan install prior to my 25K mark. Diffs and T-case are done.
Regardless of "schedule", PLEASE do the oil every 5K! The turbos will toast the oil fast and it is good to do especially if wheeling.

I like this idea, but am having trouble finding the severe service maintenance chart. Any idea where I can find it?

Hello, everybody. I’m the proud owner of a 2022 Wildtrak that I bought about 9 months ago used. I’m quickly approaching the 50k mileage mark. The maintenance schedule that Ford provides is… optimistic, in my opinion. I should mention I do a decent bit of offroading and towingWhat do y’all think I should REALLY be doing at 50k miles, and how often in general do you think preventative maintenance items should be done?

Here’s what I’m thinking for 50k… let me know if I’m missing anything, or if I’m being overly cautious.

Brakes
Spark plugs
Oil change
Tire rotation
All new fluids

Thanks, y’all!
I'm at 85,000 on my 2021 OBX, and I still have my original disc's and pads. Ford pointed out early on that they made the rotors thicker to compensate for the smaller diameter that the Base wheels required, and all original 6g Broncos have the same brake set on the 4dr. I'll change them when they're ready.

At about 75,000 miles, I followed my dealers advice and did the 6cyl fuel injector cleaning (also highly recommended on the 6cyl ECOBoost on my previous 2016 F150).
Plugs too.

Also did the engine fluid exchanges about 70,000 miles.
Do WORKS (OLF) every 5,000 miles. Air filters every 2-3 oil changes. I've been putting almost 20,000 miles on car yearly, although that has slowed down.

If you don't know how the bronco was maintained by the previous owner,, I would change change everything, o/f , a/f, at filter, frt diff, rear diff, txf case , brake fluid , g/f , cabin filter, check all ball joints, tie rods, cvb boots, everything.

Honorable mention: If you wheel it may be worth pulling drive shafts and checking the joints for play. You might also, if you wheel hard, pull the front axle nuts off unseat the axles, put a light anti seize on them and paint the mating surface (no threads). Reinstall new axle nuts. Check your tie rods for binding or play as well.
