I was wondering if anyone has looked at swapping the rear seat for one out of a TJ or JK?

It annoys me to no end that the seats don't fold a way nicely providing a flat continous rear cargo bay, so I'm in the process of measuing out the TJ's rear seat for a possible conversion.

It may be easier to just level out the trunk like plenty of other people have done. The OEM Ford slide out taligate does it (I dont think I've seen it for sale yet) or I know some people have just made a simple platform.

That would be interesting.

It's more for ease of removal when I don't need them and cleaning up the space w/o adding weight to the truck.
ah got it. wasn't sure what you were aiming for originally but that makes sense now

So, (if you could get it to work, which I doubt) you'd rather have a back seat that doesn't match the front seats than have a back seat that folds down slightly higher than the rear cargo area? Makes sense...

You know upholstery is a thing, yes? Changing the colour, fabric and cushion type on a seat is something people do all the time. That's why there's upholstery shops.

Certainly, but custom upholstery isn't cheap, add that to whatever custom fabrication you're gonna have to do to make a Jeep seat fit in a Bronco, it's probably not a super great solution for a minor annoyance.

A part of this you may not have considered are the safety concerns with doing something like that. Are the seatbelts going work correctly with the difference in seats? Are they going to hold a passenger in place in the event of a crash? Hold a car-seat in place? It's not like you could ever know (because you're not gonna crash test your Bronco.....).

A much cheaper solution would be to build up the cargo area a few inches. Who cares about the extra 20-30 lbs added for a piece of carpeted plywood with some 2x4s (or whatever) underneath.
