Wife and I are road tripping 3000+ miles to Glacier National Park & back here at the end of the month and I'm trying to come up with stuff to do on the long boring parts of the trip.

We usually call out state plates, make up phrases with the plate numbers and and the typical "slug bug."

What do you all do to pass the time?

Also, suggestions on places to stop between Omaha and Glacier? Plan to hit up Badlands, Needles highway, Devils tower, some spots in Wyoming, & Yellowstone on the way out, or on the way back depending on time.

We do a lot of the same stuff — license plates, random road signs, "slug bug" — but one thing that can be fun is making up categories and seeing who can spot things first. Certain animals, unusual businesses, weirdest roadside attraction, oldest vehicle, etc. You can make the categories as ridiculous as you want.

For the route, your basic plan sounds pretty good. Badlands → Black Hills/Needles Highway → Devils Tower → Bighorns → Yellowstone is a very solid progression. The Bighorns are one I'd definitely keep if the route works; US-14/14A through there can be a fantastic change of scenery after all the interstate driving
