I've recently purchased a 4 door big bend/SAS. Bought it, drove it home and garage kept for a month or so. It's never been in the rain, and the dealership had it inside for the 3 days it had it prior to when I picked it up. I suppose it could have been on dirt mountain for a period of time, it was 2 months from build to delivery to the dealership. Anyhow, I looked under it and noticed what seems to be light rust on the axels and drive shaft. Should I be worried? I have an extended warranty but I'm not sure if it would cover this, or if its not a big deal and something that I just need to live with.

It's normal, I wouldn't worry about it.

It is raw material, this is normal, will not rust completely, is surface oxidation. I guess this is a first vehicle of any height for some.

I just have to laugh there is a very similar thread on gladiator forum because people must need a hobby so they knit pick uncoated metal and expect it to be rust free

This your first time looking underneath a vehicle?
Nope, but mostly cars so I only scoot under it to change oil, guess I never really noticed it. Glad its nothing to worry about.

I also have this. Seems odd to me that they wouldn’t powder coat or paint it or something.
Any paint , liquid or powder, will cause the rotating parts to be out of balance and end up causing excessive rotational vibration and failure sooner than desired.

You can apply FluidFilm or WD40 and any excess will fly off as parts rotate

But you will not get warranty replacement on any designated bare metal parts until the parts themselves fail (within warranty period)

BTW, your pistons and con rods, although aluminum not steel, are unpainted also
