It is. Bummer. State is taking absolutely forever to process titles.

Usually takes 30-60 days now unfortunately.

I've had paper tags on mine for 2months now, still waiting

Seems to me if the title is in process and you sign purchase agreement and a release of liability it could be done if the dealer agrees. The dealer would have to be comfortable you would sign the title to them and the delay for processing. They would have the signed agreement they made the purchase in the mean time. Not sure but it seems feasible. It’s the dealers slight risk.

Maybe. I don’t see the dealer taking the risk or putting out the capital to sit in it even they could buy something else that they could sell immediately. But maybe.

Yes maybe. But considering they have the vehicle. It’s not a huge risk.

Usually the dealer would just have you sign an assignment of title form, similar to when their is a loan and they have to wait for the title from the finance company. Most people do not have a title when they trade in a vehicle, sure its faster for the dealer if you already have a clear title in hand but I dont think it would be a problem. Although its odd that you have the MCO, since in my state that is what you send to the RMV and then they convert that to a title, and either send it back to you if no Lein or to the Bank if there is a Lein/Loan on the vehicle.
