I am a newbie when it comes to off-road recovery (other than watching tons of MORR Youtube vids:LOL:), but I can't see a functional reason for shackles, when I compare them to the stock tow rings on the Bronco. It seems like you could attach a tow hook or soft shackle to either one. What am I missing? I get that they look cool, and offer an option to accent your Bronco with color, but couldn't you just paint the tow ring too, if that's what you're going for? Is there more than aesthetics to it?

I Wonder exactly this. Just paint the tow hooks, no rattle....$100 or so ahead to spend on gas.

There are many situations and recovery setups where you can’t connect directly to the factory recovery point. Factory recovery points are castings (and the ones on aftermarket steel bumpers are usually cut from steel plate meaning they have sharp edges) which make a soft shackle unsafe.

Where'd you get the paint? Love that.

And how? I assume they're not removable? Sand and mask and paint?
