Ok, I have an update from Ford on this, and it all good news. I am happy to say I was wrong about them not having any forward planning on this.

FIrstly, the OTA for the PCM will fail on all vehicles tuned with a Procal and using a Ford Performance tune. This is by design to prevent the update from wiping the tune. All 3rd party tunes will continue to get wiped by a PCM OTA.

The Ford Performace team said that all Ford tune owners should be checking their site regulary as they do post updates and new info regularly. They are also going to update the instructions they have on their website to provide more clarity on how owners of this product should handle their devices. You are supposed to update the Procal device.

I also learned that they are going to be releasing updated tunes that include the newer firmware strategies. It won't be right away, but eventually, you will be able to update the Procal and flash the new tune with the new firmware on the vehicle yourself.

In the particular case of @akturbo with the bricked Procal: Your info was given directly to the guys from Ford Performance to ensure your case does not fall through the cracks.
