Spare Fuse question

In the manual it shows a lot of spare fuse and unused fuses located in the interior fuse panel. Does anyone know if these spare fuses are currently wired at all? I'm looking to hardwire my dash camera and was wondering if I can just tap into these spare fuses or not.

If you have the capability to wire up your camera, you should be able to test current, no? I wouldn’t rely on what anyone says unless you confirm it. Don’t hook to a constant, be sure it’s ignition only.

Yeah you should be able to tap into those fuses, but it'll be a custom thing--may even have to drill some holes in the housing to reach those fuses. Ford doesn't provide the wiring.

And I would actually test to see what current your camera does take, and replace the spare fuses with one that matches what your camera actually uses. If your camera usually takes 5 amps and you have a 30 amp fuse on it... the power plane could be shorted out and you may not know because it has a 30 amp fuse on it.

Or if you get the Auxiliary switch option, those circuits are pre-wired and already have fuses on them. So you could simply use the circuit that goes to the dash for your camera.

Similar question: I need a constant hot and would like to use one of the spares instead of hooking to battery direct. And I am able to test light/volt meter to figure it out, but with the time delay and battery saving features I'm wondering if any knows for sure which are always hot. There is even debate if the 12v outlets in console and rear are hot/delayed/or key on only.

I may still go AUX switch route. Need to find a good ground location near passenger foot well though

If you need a constant hot and its low draw, then just piggyback to the fuse for the horn. That way the camera can also film while the vehicle is parked. Or if you want to use a fuse that is hot on ignition, you could always piggyback to one of them.
