Hey folks... does anyone have any tips and/or best practices on removing a stripped TP30 bolt? It's in an awkward location, so I'm hoping to avoid drilling it out, but I may not have a choice. I swear, no matter how careful I am, I manage to strip one of these bolts on almost every project. And yes, I'm using the correct socket. Thanks

Generally the suggestion has been to tap in a hex bit till it's jammed into the stripped edges, and back the bolt out that way.

This is probably the easiest

A little bit of valve polish compound on the bolt head can sometimes get enough grip to get it out too without sacrificing an Allen key

The correct answer is to get a bolt extractor set - this probably won’t be the first Torx you strip, and they are pretty nice to have, and Torx (and Allen) are really easy to use an extractor on since the heads already have a starter hole for the bit.

I've seen where folks have advised NOT using any powered device to remove these as they're prone to stripping. If it's accessible, a manual ratchet is your best choice.

I’ve had luck putting the socket in and pounding it with a hammer till it feels snug, and as others have said, no power tools. Use a ratchet if possible.

Can u heat it from the underside? It may have tread sealer on it, heat will help. Matco, MAC, Snap on are the best for removal tools
