Subwoofer Recommendations

I am curious on what aftermarket subs people have gone with. I see that Kicker and JL are popular but am wondering if anyone has stepped outside of those two and chose something different that they are happy with. I know this really boils down to a personal preference but would like to hear everyone's thoughts. I am not trying to win any competition just have a great sounding system in the Bronco as the B&O is not cutting it. I am going to add 6.5's to the rear as well.

Not sure if the brand matters quite as much as making sure the enclosure you're using matches the specs that the mfr recommends. Building a size-appropriate box will pay dividends on getting good sound out of it, IMO.

I have the Stinger tailgate enclosure with the Audio Control sub. I have it powered by the Mobridge Amp/DSP. Hits and sounds great - no complaints!

So many factors to consider other than brand. Enclosure volume aligning with manufacture spec. Ohm and power rating aligning with your amplifier specs. Frequency spec of sub vs signal being supplied by your amp/eq/dsp/loc. Make sure the ohm load is right, then power, then enclosure space, then check your wallet…and make a judgement call. And Rockford Fosgate has been around a looooong time for a reason.

I appreciate everyone's answers! I got a killer deal on an AudioControl LC 1-800 so that will be the amp I am running and I will purchase the plug and play harness for it. I am currently looking at either the rear gate box like the one above or the box from Addictive Car Audio!

I have an Audiomobile Encore 4412 going into a fully custom rear passenger side enclosure and panel that uses the space of the factory sub plus a bit more. Ill post pics once complete. Im running mosconi pro amps, dsp, and an active gladen aerospace 3 way setup up front.

Anyone try the Hertz Cento CS 8" in the stock enclosure? Planning on swapping out my last remaining B&O speaker at some point and the rest are all Hertz Cento series. Will run Mobridge eventually as well.
