When I part on uneven ground, the swing gate sometimes swings shut. I've been looking for a prop that will hold it open. I found limiters will limit the swing, but that's not what I need. Does anyone have any tricks or products they recommend?

Great idea. Can you share a link?
Have to admit, I agree with @HighVelocity -- I've not come across anything any better than ... a stick. A close alternative is a piece of rope, but you have to have something to tie it to over on the passenger side.

Sticks are the future.

Need to poke something? Stick.
Need to draw in dirt? Stick.
Need a sword, wand, fishing pole, backscratcher, pointer, or lightsaber? Stick.

Batteries? Never needed.
Wi-Fi? Nope.
Durability? 10/10 until snapped in dramatic battle.

Humanity built civilization on one simple truth:
If you can’t fix it with a stick… you probably need a bigger stick.

Wouldn’t a stronger / more beefed up gas strut help to hold it open?

Four things

Some hard tops require the tailgate to open beyond 90° to open the back hatch

I don't think Hammerbuilt makes those struts any longer

I haven't seen ~any~ struts that lock and hold the door - if you are on an incline, all struts I've seen will let the door close on you if you have any weight on the tailgate (like, say, a spare tire). Not to say they don't exist, but I haven't really seen any aftermarket struts worth mentioning at all - and it's a shame because the OEM one isn't that good (for many various reasons) and there's a good opportunity for an upgrade right there. Plenty of products that limit how far the tailgate will open and/or reinforce the strut mounts though, but none replace the strut with anything different.

Happy to not be an adult.

#5, the hammer built can also bend the metal on the tailgate so you'll also Want to buy a brace like warhorse (which also isn't made anymore, but there are others)
