Born and raised in Chicago proper and lived in the metro area up until 18 years ago when a job opportunity brought my family and me to the metro Detroit area.

I am partial to Chicago tavern style (thin crust) and deep dish, and I missed it terribly when we moved. Detroit style, to me at least, just didn't compare. I have since gotten used to it and appreciate it for what it is, but when going back "home", I always try to get in some pizza, and bring back some Lou Malnati's deep dish.

I do appreciate a good wood oven pizza and a couple years ago I was gifted a backyard wood pizza oven, so occasionally I will bake my own.

I was born & raised in Detroit... I really miss the great Jewish deli's!

There are surprisingly good pizza spots in New Haven. Almost as good as some of the Jersey and NYC spots. Almost...
