Been thinking about a bronze wheel for my shelter green raptor. Had this in my garage from a previous project. Just tried it on the spare for now, but kinda dig it! Has a metallic flake in it like shelter green, but is a very dark bronze. Also redid the bolts as they were fading, haven’t tightened them all the way back down yet so they and the dip have more time to dry.

The whole truck or just the wheel?

The whole truck. I've done it in the past when I had a Wrangler. Actually painted it four different times/colors. It was burnt orange, khaki, like a denim blue, and a pearl white. It takes either 2 gallons in a sprayer or about 15 rattles cans. Fun weekend project! haha

Pics or it didn't happen! 🤣

Seriously, once you get it done, postem because I've thought about doing something similar but got turned off by the cost of having someone else do the work for me.

It's REAL color was "Rhino", a really dark grey/blue. The only real things to keep in mind is, always keep the rattle can or sprayer moving or it will drip. And PUT IT ON THICK. That makes it easier to peel later. I learned the hard way with the first one which was the Khaki. I didn't put it on thick enough then it would just tear into little bitty strips or pieces as I tried to remove it. I ended up literally using a pressure washer to get all the tiny little pieces off.

Here’s the finished product on the other wheels. It’s very subtle, almost like I just blacked out the rings, but from certain angles the bronze shows up.

Those look great. I love how it has a subtle color variation. I am getting antsy, I'm thinking I might try that this weekend but in reverse. So the inner wheel will be bronzed, and I'll leave the ring blacked out. What did you use to cover the tires when you sprayed? Or did you just peel them off the wheels afterwards? I can NEVER get painters tape to stick AT ALL to the tires

So I didnt need to mask anything off as I removed the rings and sprayed them separately. But in the past when I dipped wheels, I found that a deck of playing cards tucked between the tire and the rim worked really well. Just need to put bags behind the wheels to keep it off the brake/hub/etc.
