A picatinny type rail would be ideal.

The more I look at it, the more I think this needs to be done. So many possibilities when you have a true rigid point on the dash.
Soooooooo, youre going to do it for us?

Yup, saw this in the other thread. Glad the fix is simple and AR may engineer a solution as well

You know....

What if I just remade that plastic piece altogether in a billet part. You would have the two Torx fasteners that mounted it to the sub-dash and a solid tapped 1/4-20 mount hole in the center, like OEM. Just bombproof the whole thing. It would be aftermarket accessory agnostic, so, if you chose a different rail, other that the super saucy AR rails, it would still work.
My BAM-BYODR is on order. Iā€™m ready to see what the ā€˜bombproofā€™ addition looks like. Iā€™d like my gear to stay in place while Iā€™m bouncing around off-road.

I realize this is an old thread, but does anyone have the OEM part number for this piece?
Mine came completely off and has disappeared.
Took it to the dealer and they couldn't find the part in their catalog.
TIA!

Probably need this whole piece. You can see the part number in the pic.

Did this ever happen?

it's probably more used just as a mounting point when using what they intended with the byod being spread out. I am guessing if you are justing using that point only that it will be garbage

Exactly this....
It's not meant to just screw in a quarter twenty device directly to. At least, not by my reckoning.
