If you're weight conscious, check the weight of the tires you want before you buy...I almost bought the Wildpeaks but they are 15# more than some of the other popular tires at the same size (285/70/17). It's not just extra weight on your ride, it's weight on the axle that your engine has to rotate.
Dang this did not cross my mind. Thank you!!!
Which tires did you end up going with?

Another vote for BFG KO2's. After all, they come stock on the Badlands trim.

I had a set of the original KO's on my XJ and at 70K miles, they still had about 1/8" tread. I replaced them with KO2's and currently have 39K on them, and without measuring, they appear to be slightly under half life. When my Bronco arrives (hopefully next month), it'll have Badlands take-offs on it from Day 1.

Went Wildpeak AT3W 285/70/R17s. Couldn't be happier. Great grip and road manners, and dig in when on dirt. Look mean too. Flipped from the Grapplers in 265 and these are also quieter and smoother. Note I run them around 35-37psi on pavement.

Awesome, this gives me a jumping off point. I was seeing lots of recommendations for the Nitto Ridge Grapplers, Toyo Open Country AT3, and the Falken Wildpeaks!

Ya, I forgot to mention, what pushed the Toyos to my top was also that they were the least expensive where I live. I liked the tread design, and they were the lightest.

Good luck,
Mike

Update: Definitely leaning toward the Toyo Open Country AT3. I appreciate all of the super helpful responses here!

I have these on my wife's OBX, You will lose some mpg's but they ride great on pavement and trails, Load Range C. I also have this same tire in a 35" for my Wildtrak

You can think of ply/load range as how many "layers" the tire has. The higher the "layers" the stiffer the tire and the less bumps it will absorb(bouncy ride). Load Range C is good for the Bronco unless you are doing extreme rock crawling. Here is a good article

Exactly what I would get. Nothing better.

I'm putting on a set of Badlands take-offs in a couple of weeks. 285/70/R17 KO2's - looking forward to getting them on.
