I think they use the sand a lot just to demonstrate it better.
Brad as said in his walk around the lockers work independent, so you can have front locker on and trail turn on as well, if rear locker on, computer will unlock to perform trail turn.
Below is a real good example of "the front dig" (only 2 minutes). White jeep has to do multi point turn. Jeep with camera just uses the front differential to turn the front of the jeep. This is very similar to what the Bronco can do.
