My dealership has no idea of the window/door module update. They are asking if there is a TSB or reference code for the update. Someone had posted SSM 51895 on the forum, but they said that is not a proper reference code.

does anybody have anything more concrete to share with my dealer?

There isn't one. It wasn't a repair or something that was designed to be performed. It was information only about a new feature.
And Ford took away the SSM for the new short window drop function probably because people wouldn't stop asking dealerships about it lol or they're about to release some other information about it possibly.

So there is no possibility of getting this update?

I know @RagnarKon made a video on how to do it yourself if that's something you're interested in. Still on my to-do list

I'm sure the programming is still there.
Just ask your dealership to update the DDM/PDM software if available. Depending on the dealership, you'll likely have to pay for it though. It isn't a warrantable repair.

Unfortunately I do not have the equipment. He is an amazing contributor! He is a wealth of knowledge and advice!

I called my Ford dealer this afternoon and scheduled an appointment for this Friday to have the door module update performed. The service department tech actually called it a recall, so perhaps Ford has now changed its status from TSB to recall. I’m just happy they knew what I was talking about!

It's definitely not a recall, at least not that I've seen. But either way as long as they know what you're talking about that works.

Uhh... oops? Wasn't me.

Honestly though... dealers should be happy. We're driving dealer profitability here on B6G. (y)

lol I think if anything it was just confusing dealers that knew nothing about it because there was no official word that the programming had been released for some, only an SSM saying Ford was working on it. There's probably a totally different reason it was actually removed.

I just asked my advisor about this via txt and he replied...

"Not that applied to yours. We look them up VIN specific, but basically it is a DDM PDM update. If a TSB or SSM does not apply, we bill ford straight time for it."

Warranty covers it if your windows stick when you open doors.

Agreed. They probably know me as “that pesky guy” who insisted on a 5 tire rotation and kept trying to get us to address his whistling side mirrors (which I fixed myself with the Aeroskin II bug deflector).
