Hi has anyone replaced their wheel studs on these things? Is it pretty straight forward hammer out and pop back in without removing hub?

I got black mcgard wheel locks and was in a bit of a rush so I didn't test thread it fully with the wheel off. I hand tightened the first few threads and then used a ratchet to put it in. After a few turns it became super tight and then loose again. Took the whole wheel off and sure enough the cross threaded... Wasn't too bad maybe half cross threaded on a few threads in the middle. It still torques well but I'd like to change it out at some point. Or should I just get a thread chaser and smooth it out a bit.

What do you guys think? Safe to drive for a while?

I've never done it but I can't think of any reason you couldn't pop that one out and replace it. Ford does sell the studs individually, so doesn't look like you have to replace the entire axle/hub or anything, and you can spin it so you can get a clear, clean shot at popping the old one out.

You should be able to press it out of the hub and press in a new one. One of the parts stores probably carries replacements. Dorman brand or the Ford dealer might have a new one.

I was snapping mine religiously. Purchased APR studs and replaced all 10 on the front. Got a realignment as well to help since I'm running 40''. Replaced the Upper Arm Controllers as well. Should be fine now.

Sheering off the studs? Dang. Offroading? Are the Ford studs soft like Subarus?

Was it easy to hammer out and press back in? Im debating if I should diy it or just take it into the shop.

I wasn't doing any off roading. That's how bad out of aligned my Bronco was.

I just took it to a shop and told them to replace all 10 with APR. All the other brands were Subaru soft.

I watched them replace them. Looked super easy. I just didn't have the right tools at the house to do it myself.

To hold a wheel on a 5000# vehicle? Not for me.
Also, I would be concerned about bearing damage using a hammer.
There are several different tools for this, maybe rentable.
